Mission Operations Specialist - San Diego

Role overview A field-oriented remote position based out of San Diego, supporting the installation, configuration, testing, and sustainment of onboard operational technology solutions across military and commercial platforms. The role sits at the intersection of hardware deployment, software setup, and field integration, working directly alongside customers and engineering teams in industrial, maritime, rail, and defense environments.

Responsibilities - Install hardware, sensors, networking equipment, and cabling on military and commercial platforms in industrial, maritime, rail, or defense settings. - Configure, install, and update software applications, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and system images across customer hardware. - Run installation procedures, startup checklists, and operational verification tests to confirm system readiness and compliance with quality and safety standards. - Travel to customer sites to lead on-site integration, upgrades, and preventative maintenance activities alongside deployment engineers. - Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and installation issues on-site, escalating complex problems to senior engineers. - Document installation activities, equipment configurations, and test results while maintaining deployment kits, tools, and equipment.

Requirements - 1-4 years of experience supporting technical equipment, field installations, electronics, networking, IT systems, or related hands-on technologies. - Proficiency with common hand tools, basic electronic test equipment, Windows operating systems, and basic Ethernet/IP-based communications. - Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to read basic technical procedures. - Hands-on experience with technical troubleshooting, hardware assembly, software installation, and system testing in field environments. - Comfort working in dynamic, fast-paced settings, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds in industrial, maritime, rail, or military environments. - Associate degree, technical certification, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience. - Self-motivated with a bias for action and willingness to travel up to 30% domestically and occasionally internationally. - Active U.S. security clearance, or the ability and willingness to obtain one.

Nice to have - Familiarity with Surface Navy vessels, including LCS experience. - Military technical experience in electronics, communications, aviation, maritime, maintenance, or IT. - Experience supporting DoD, aerospace, maritime, rail, or industrial customers, plus familiarity with Linux, multimeters, logic analyzers, wiring diagrams, and installation drawings. - Background installing ruggedized computers, sensors, or networking equipment on operational platforms.
