Remote job
Senior EPMS Design Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview Own the design of electrical power monitoring systems for mission-critical data center environments. This senior engineering role connects electrical design, controls, and operations, defining specifications, network architectures, and control logic so critical power equipment provides dependable monitoring, telemetry, and fault visibility.
Responsibilities - Develop and maintain global EPMS specifications, network designs, and control sequences for critical power infrastructure. - Produce or review single-line diagrams, control network schematics, panel layouts, bills of materials, and sequences of operation. - Coordinate monitoring and integration across equipment such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and power distribution units. - Validate device functionality and point mapping during factory witness and equipment qualification testing. - Support construction quality reviews, commissioning from L1 through L5, point-to-point checks, and as-built package review before handoff. - Diagnose complex monitoring issues, including loss of visibility or resilience and metering discrepancies.
Requirements - At least 5 years of direct EPMS design, engineering, or integration experience in data centers or other mission-critical facilities. - A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or mechatronics, or equivalent industry or military experience. - Ability to create and interpret electrical diagrams, control schematics, sequences, panel layouts, and bills of materials. - Working knowledge of Modbus RTU/TCP, BACnet MS/TP/IP, and Ethernet TCP/IP. - Practical design knowledge of PLC-based EPMS, branch circuit monitoring, and power metering hardware. - Experience authoring or interpreting CSI Division 25 and Division 26 specifications.
Nice to have Seven or more years in hyperscale or colocation data centers; knowledge of critical electrical systems such as switchgear, static transfer switches, UPS, transformers, and generator paralleling; familiarity with MQTT, Sparkplug B, or Ignition; and experience with commissioning, integrated systems testing, or factory acceptance testing.
Benefits and work setup Location is flexible, with operational hubs in Georgia, Texas, or Arkansas preferred. Travel may reach 25%, including data center construction sites and equipment manufacturing facilities.
