Contract | Senior UI Artist (MARVEL SNAP)

Role overview A contract opportunity for a hands-on Senior UI Artist to define and elevate the visual language of a live, card-based mobile game set in a major superhero universe. The role owns UI art from early exploration through final in-engine implementation, partnering with UX, design, engineering, and production to translate gameplay requirements into polished, intuitive, expressive interfaces. The hire will help set visual standards, iterate quickly on player feedback, and mentor other artists.

Responsibilities - Own the visual design and execution of UI experiences from concept through final, game-ready implementation. - Create high-quality UI assets including screens, panels, buttons, icons, badges, backgrounds, decorative elements, and 2D graphic effects. - Translate UX flows and gameplay requirements into clear, intuitive, visually compelling solutions. - Develop visual explorations, high-fidelity comps, prototypes, and style guides that communicate design intent. - Establish and maintain cohesive visual standards across UI features and systems, refining iconography, typography, layout, color, and hierarchy. - Implement UI art directly in the game engine and collaborate with engineers on performance, scalability, and production readiness. - Rapidly prototype, iterate, and refine designs based on playtesting, feedback, and evolving product requirements. - Provide thoughtful feedback and mentorship to other artists and help establish efficient UI production workflows.

Requirements - 10+ years of professional UI, UX, or game art experience, with at least one commercially shipped game. - Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional UI design, visual design, iconography, and game interface work (portfolio required). - Strong fundamentals in visual design, composition, typography, color, hierarchy, iconography, and information design. - Experience designing for multiple screen sizes, resolutions, and aspect ratios, and maintaining consistency across many UI elements. - Proficiency with industry-standard design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or equivalent. - Experience working directly in a game engine and an understanding of the practical requirements of implementing UI inside one. - Strong communication and collaboration skills, the ability to work independently in a fast-moving production environment, and a high level of craft and attention to detail.

Nice to have - Experience on a card game, collectible card game, or strategy game, and on a live-service game with frequent content updates. - Experience shipping mobile games or games across multiple platforms, plus motion design, UI animation, or interactive prototyping. - Familiarity with Unity, UI implementation, scripting, or programming, and building or maintaining UI component libraries or design systems. - Mentorship or visual direction experience, and prior work with major licensed entertainment properties.
