Role overview
A senior engineering role focused on building production-quality AI agents that generate and evaluate software documentation. The work is software engineering first, not research or model fine-tuning, with a small early-stage team moving from idea to production in days rather than quarters. The hire will design agent architectures, ship user-facing systems, and define the practices a maturing team follows.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship AI agents that write and evaluate software documentation at production quality, not demos - Own the full agent lifecycle from prototype through deployment, including the processes and best practices the team adopts as the product matures - Build reusable agent primitives such as agentic loops and retrieval systems that ground outputs in authoritative sources - Develop evaluation frameworks that catch subtle failures in clarity, accuracy, and usefulness before users encounter them - Drive product decisions directly, with engineering judgment shaping what gets built
Requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals spanning systems design, API design, distributed systems, and data pipelines - Proven experience leading technical projects, setting direction, raising quality bars, and mentoring peers - Deep familiarity with agent architecture patterns including multi-agent orchestration, evaluation frameworks, and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines - Ability to deliver outcomes without perfect direction and find creative workarounds when obstacles appear - Sound judgment on whether generated text is genuinely clear, accurate, and useful, not merely present

- Prior experience as a founder or founding engineer building a product from zero
