Senior Software Engineer - AI Safety Detection Precision
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build the core intelligence layer behind a Connected Operations platform that helps physical-operations customers turn IoT data into safer, more efficient outcomes. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Safety Detection Precision team, you will shape the systems that decide which safety detections are surfaced to customers, automate triage for high-confidence cases, and feed real-world review outcomes back into the next generation of detection models. The role is well suited to an engineer who enjoys shaping ambiguous, end-to-end systems with direct customer impact.
Responsibilities - Build and evolve the core systems that review safety detections and determine which events reach customers - Improve detection precision by identifying ambiguous cases, deflecting low-value reviews, and automating triage where confidence is high - Work across backend systems, data, and AI-driven decisioning to lift both product quality and internal review efficiency - Partner with product, design, and AI/ML infrastructure to convert review outcomes into better model feedback loops over time - Own complex projects end-to-end, from technical design through rollout, measurement, and iteration in production - Use modern AI-assisted engineering workflows pragmatically while maintaining strong judgment, reliability, and code quality - Raise the bar for quality, operability, and engineering clarity across a critical safety surface
Requirements - 4+ years of software development experience, primarily in backend or distributed systems - Experience on a product engineering team shipping systems that solve real customer problems - Demonstrable focus on customer experience with the ability to connect technical decisions to customer value - AI-first engineering mindset with consistent use of modern AI coding and reasoning tools - Strong sense of ownership and ability to operate independently on ambiguous, high-impact problems
Nice to have - Experience working on safety, video, telematics, or other sensor-driven products - Background contributing to model feedback loops or human-in-the-loop review systems - Familiarity with large-scale production data pipelines
Benefits and work setup - Flexible working model with offices available for in-person collaboration and remote work where it aligns with operational needs - Comprehensive health benefits, parental leave plans, and a professional development stipend - Inclusive hiring practices with accommodations available throughout the recruiting process
