Job details
About this role
Role overview
A newly created position sits on the Application Security team and leads the organization's most forward-leaning AI security work. The engineer will alternate between using frontier AI models to red-team cloud infrastructure and validating firmware vulnerabilities on hardware, with the mission of protecting applications from AI-driven adversaries. The role reports into a newly formed function and is expected to shape long-term AI security strategy.
Responsibilities
- Conduct security assessments of software, code, and firmware, evaluating resilience against AI-driven and adversarial attacks, and drive remediation work. - Translate general AI security findings into tailored fixes for the application security layer, including adapting software-focused techniques to hardware and embedded firmware. - Prototype, pressure-test, and roll out AI-enabled security tooling and workflows that prove their value to the broader security organization. - Partner with engineering, hardware, and senior leadership (including VP-level threat modeling sessions) as the go-to expert on AI-related security risk. - Help define and execute the medium- and long-term strategy for adopting AI safely and effectively across security operations. - Use frontier LLMs hands-on for both offensive validation (red-teaming internal systems) and defensive tooling, including prompt injection and adversarial testing of agentic workflows.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience integrating, securing, or red-teaming AI-enabled systems such as large language models and agentic workflows. - Strong background in application security, with hands-on exposure to firmware or embedded systems assessments. - Practical experience performing offensive security work, including red-teaming of cloud environments. - Ability to communicate technical risk clearly to engineers, hardware teams, and executive stakeholders. - Track record of building tooling or workflows that get adopted beyond the immediate team.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote position open to candidates in the United States, excluding the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City metro, and Washington, D.C. metro. - Highly visible, org-wide remit with a clear path to influence long-term AI security strategy.
