About this role

Role overview Build and operate integrations that let internal data systems exchange information reliably with external APIs, webhooks, and partner platforms. You’ll map varied payloads into and out of an event-based architecture, handle failures at scale, and help make integrations easier for teams to configure, monitor, and support.

Responsibilities - Develop and operate pipelines that ingest data from or send data to third-party APIs, webhooks, and custom endpoints. - Transform, validate, normalize, and map payloads between internal schemas and external formats such as JSON and XML. - Manage data backfills and integration launches for new customer deployments. - Document integration behavior and maintain API specifications for engineering teams and external partners. - Build resilient handling for rate limits, retries, dead-letter cases, and other failure scenarios; monitor data quality and automate tests. - Create tools for non-engineering users to configure, monitor, and run backfills, and collaborate with support, operations, and product teams, including on-call work as needed.

Requirements - Five or more years of software, backend, or data engineering experience, preferably in a startup environment. - Hands-on experience building and operating REST API, webhook, and third-party platform integrations. - Strong Python and SQL skills for data transformation and integration pipelines. - Experience mapping schemas and normalizing complex payloads across systems. - Practical knowledge of API failure modes and resilience patterns such as exponential backoff, dead-letter queues, and idempotency. - Strong written and verbal communication, including experience producing technical documentation, architecture decision records, or API specifications.

Nice to have - Familiarity with dbt, PySpark, workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Terraform, and AWS services. - Experience with EHR data, HIPAA, HL7 feeds, or FHIR APIs; familiarity with distributed, asynchronous teams.

Benefits and work setup - Fully remote; candidates must be based in the United States or Canada. - Base salary range: $165,000–$185,000 USD or $140,000–$160,000 CAD, depending on experience, plus bonus plan, stock options, and benefits. - Medical, dental, and vision coverage with employee premiums fully paid, a 401(k) program, and monthly education, wellbeing, and home-office stipends. - Non-accrual paid time off, family and parental leave, company retreats, and growth opportunities.
