Role overview
Senior Cloud Architect supporting the design and delivery of complex systems across cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and artificial intelligence. The role combines hands-on engineering with growing architectural ownership, working within cross-functional delivery teams to produce scalable, secure, maintainable solutions for real-world enterprise workflows.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to architecture across cloud, data, and AI/ML systems while owning meaningful components end to end. - Build and integrate cloud-native services, including microservices, serverless applications, and containerized workloads. - Implement infrastructure as code and continuous integration and delivery pipelines. - Design or contribute to data pipelines, warehouses, and data models. - Support machine-learning systems through model serving, MLOps workflows, and integration of large-language-model capabilities. - Establish monitoring, logging, observability, architecture documentation, and constructive design-review practices.
Requirements
- At least five years of professional software engineering experience. - Practical experience designing and delivering cloud-based systems, with familiarity across services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. - Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, containers, or orchestration platforms. - Ability to work across application, data, and AI/ML concerns and explain technical tradeoffs clearly. - Strong collaboration skills for working with engineering, data, AI, product, and architecture stakeholders. - Willingness to use modern AI-assisted development tools as part of day-to-day delivery.
Nice to have
- Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation; GitHub Actions; Snowflake, BigQuery, Airflow, or dbt; and SageMaker, Vertex AI, or MLflow. - Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch. - Interest in mentoring engineers and helping establish shared architectural standards.
Benefits and work setup
The role is intended for candidates located in Canada or the United States. The listed compensation range is approximately $53–$73 USD per hour. Eligible employees may receive paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus a 401(k).
