About this role

Role overview Lead the engineering work that brings predictive maintenance models into operational systems supporting aircraft maintenance and logistics. In a cross-functional Agile setting, you’ll shape production-grade AI/ML and MLOps solutions, guide engineering practices, and help teams use data products to improve equipment readiness and sustainment decisions.

Responsibilities - Architect and deliver secure, production-ready AI/ML systems for condition-based maintenance and decision support. - Guide model development, deployment, testing, documentation, and MLOps practices across engineering teams; mentor less experienced engineers. - Work with software, data, cloud, and product partners to connect models to applications, APIs, and operational workflows. - Define monitoring for data quality, model performance, drift, bias, and degradation, and lead responses to performance issues. - Explain technical findings to both technical teams and senior or nontechnical stakeholders. - Engage with government customers and project stakeholders, including occasional travel.

Requirements - Active Secret security clearance; candidates must already hold one. - Master’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent professional experience. - At least five years of applied NLP experience, including data labeling and entity or keyword extraction. - Proficiency with Databricks, PySpark, SQL, data governance, and technical documentation. - Strong statistical grounding for data assessment, analysis, and predictive modeling. - Experience delivering dashboards or data products with tools such as Streamlit, Qlik Sense, or similar, plus clear communication skills.

Nice to have - STEM Ph.D., especially in data science, analytics, or computer science. - Predictive or condition-based maintenance, sensor-based failure prediction, or defense logistics experience. - Monte Carlo simulation, confidence interval analysis, end-to-end data pipelines, or customer-facing UI integration. - Familiarity with defense aviation data or Department of Defense systems.

Benefits and work setup The stated base salary range is $180,000–$200,000. Eligible employees may also receive benefits and performance-based or other incentive compensation. Minimal travel may be needed.
