Role overview A remote Backend Engineer role focused on Identity and Access Management (IAM). The position involves designing and operating the services that authenticate users, authorize actions, and govern permissions across the platform. It is a foundational infrastructure role with broad organizational impact.
Responsibilities - Design and maintain authentication and authorization services at scale - Build and evolve role, permission, and policy models used across multiple products - Harden session management, token issuance, and credential storage practices - Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response for IAM-related issues - Partner with security and product teams on access reviews and audit requirements
Requirements - Backend engineering experience with a compiled or interpreted server-side language - Solid understanding of authentication protocols such as OAuth, OIDC, and SAML - Familiarity with distributed systems concepts including consistency, replication, and latency - Experience designing APIs and data models for identity-centric domains - Track record of writing maintainable, well-tested production code
Nice to have - Background in zero-trust architectures or modern authorization frameworks - Experience with regulated environments and compliance-driven access controls
