About this role

Role overview

A senior machine learning engineer position focused on robotics automation at an early-stage startup building commercially deployed robotics products. The role centers on owning the AI, ML, and computer vision core of a physical robotics system, working directly with the CTO and co-founder. This is a hands-on deep learning position involving custom training loops, architecture design, and edge deployment — explicitly not a prompt-engineering or LLM-wrapper job.

Responsibilities

- Own the AI/ML and vision stack end-to-end, from raw data processing through training, fine-tuning, and edge deployment - Design and implement neural network architectures (PyTorch preferred) including custom training loops, data loaders, and loss functions - Build the learning and perception components of the MVP, including hardware control interfaces that link models to physical robots - Shape the ML stack and architecture decisions in close alignment with technical leadership - Translate customer feedback and market signals into concrete technical requirements for the ML roadmap - Monitor advances in AI, computer vision, and robotics to keep the product competitive, and mentor future ML hires as the team grows

Requirements

- Three or more years of end-to-end deep learning

experience: data pipelines, architecture design, training from scratch, and fine-tuning - Proven track record shipping computer vision systems in industrial automation environments - Strong PyTorch proficiency, including custom data loaders and loss functions - Hands-on expertise with CNNs, vision transformers, object detection, and segmentation - Solid software engineering background with ML components running in real production products - Startup mindset: pragmatic, analytical, comfortable with rapid iteration in high-uncertainty settings - Fluent Polish and English, spoken and written

Nice to have

- Experience integrating ML models with physical systems, robotics, embedded devices, or IoT - Familiarity with ROS/ROS2, simulation environments, or control systems - Background in robotics automation platforms, cloud-edge architectures, or industrial automation - Prior experience at deep-tech or engineering-driven startups - Previous tech lead or lead engineer experience

Benefits and work setup

- B2B contract starting at PLN 18,000 net plus VAT, with an equity or incentive package tied to company growth - Direct influence over the AI/ML direction of a robotics product built from scratch - Backed by an experienced startup studio and capital group, with access to industry experts - Remote-friendly setup based in Poland, with a fast-decision, high-impact engineering culture - Recruitment process: technical interview (~60 min), take-home assignment, assignment discussion, investor conversation (~45 min), and terms agreement
