Role overview
A hands-on Machine Learning Engineer position focused on building and productizing modern computer vision and visual language capabilities for major intelligence and public safety projects. The role blends model research with practical engineering, turning experimental approaches into reliable production systems that process petabyte-scale visual and geospatial data.
Responsibilities
- Develop, train, evaluate, and fine-tune computer vision and visual language models for real-world use cases - Work on object recognition, detection, classification, and identification tasks - Build data pipelines, scrapers, and workflows for large-scale visual and geospatial datasets - Experiment with state-of-the-art and open-source models and convert promising approaches into dependable systems - Process satellite imagery, geospatial data, sensors, and other visual intelligence sources - Travel every 2-4 weeks for architecture reviews and team events
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field (Master's preferred) with an excellent academic record - Strong programming skills and experience developing or fine-tuning AI/ML models - Hands-on experience with computer vision, VLMs, image understanding, or related ML applications - Genuine interest in data, analytics, and data pipelines - Self-directed working style with the motivation and ability to learn new technologies quickly - Excellent German language skills - Eligibility to work full-time in Germany and willingness to undergo required security clearance and background checks
Nice to have
- Background in georeferencing, satellite imagery, remote sensing, OpenStreetMap, or photogrammetry - Experience with large-scale data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, or ML deployment - Familiarity with sensors such as drones, antennas, or cameras - Prior research background in computer vision - Knowledge of Russian or Ukrainian - Interest or experience in military, intelligence, defense, or public safety domains
