Job details
About this role
Role overview
Develop and operate backend services that support business card products, including transaction processing, fraud controls, card lifecycle management, and APIs for partners and developers. You’ll help shape architecture and reliability in a cross-functional engineering environment where correctness, resilience, and maintainability matter for financial workflows.
Responsibilities - Design and build services for card transactions, fraud detection, and card program management. - Contribute to architecture and technical decisions, prioritizing performance, fault tolerance, and maintainable designs. - Work with product, risk, finance, and compliance partners to deliver dependable systems that meet operational and regulatory needs. - Write well-tested, observable code within a service-oriented architecture. - Take part in code reviews, incident response, and ongoing reliability improvements. - Improve engineering practices, tools, and system designs as the platform grows.
Requirements - Six or more years of software engineering experience, preferably in fintech, infrastructure, or platform teams. - Experience building backend systems in a typed language such as TypeScript, Java, or Go. - Understanding of distributed systems, including asynchronous processing, retries, observability, and eventual consistency. - Good judgment balancing system correctness, performance, and maintainability. - Ability to collaborate across functions, explain technical tradeoffs, and work comfortably in an evolving product environment.
Nice to have - Experience with card networks, 3DS, PCI, tokenization, chargebacks, or other card lifecycle systems. - Experience building for compliance or regulatory constraints, working with external APIs, or operating in a high-growth startup. - Familiarity with TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and AWS.
Benefits and work setup - A high-ownership role with autonomy and collaboration across engineering, product, and operations. - Insurance coverage after probation, a card stipend, and access to AI tools with time to experiment and learn.
