Role overview

A remote-first knowledge sharing platform is hiring a new graduate Software Engineer for its Machine Learning Platform team. The role focuses on building and maintaining the infrastructure that serves hundreds of production ML models at massive scale, spanning distributed systems and GPU model serving. New grads join a team of senior and staff engineers, receive dedicated mentorship, and are expected to ship to production within their first few weeks.

Responsibilities

- Help build and maintain the core infrastructure powering the ML platform, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance. - Improve distributed systems that serve production ML models, from large recommendation models to large language models. - Work on GPU model serving, optimizing latency, throughput, and cost to support larger and more capable models. - Contribute to platform initiatives such as PyTorch-first standardization and modernization of the broader ML ecosystem. - Build internal tooling that helps ML engineers develop, test, and deploy models more efficiently. - Help modernize the feature store so new features reach production faster. - Participate in the team's on-call rotation and help resolve production issues as ownership grows.

Requirements

- 2025 or 2026 graduate with or pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. - Genuine interest in large-scale distributed systems, infrastructure, and machine learning. - Knowledge of Python, Go, or C++, or the ability to learn them quickly. - Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during weekday coordination hours (9am–3pm Pacific Time). - A learning mindset and drive to continuously improve yourself and the team.

Nice to have

- Prior software engineering experience through internships, open-source contributions, or coding competitions. - Coursework or hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow. - Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, or cloud platforms such as AWS. - Experience with low-level performance work such as profiling, benchmarking, or optimization.

- Fully remote role open to candidates in Canada or the United States. - Compensation includes base salary, equity, and benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage, equity refreshers, remote work reimbursement, paid time off, and employee assistance programs (country-specific). - US salary range: $97,600–$139,000 USD plus equity and benefits. Canada ranges vary by city, with Toronto and Vancouver at $125,320–$142,783 CAD and other Canadian locations at $116,965–$133,264 CAD. - A flexible equity program is available in eligible countries, allowing a portion of equity to be taken as cash.
