Role overview A remote-first opportunity for a senior individual contributor to design, build, and maintain the core services and infrastructure behind a context-based insurance platform. The role blends hands-on back end development with technical leadership, connecting data and machine learning workflows into scalable, secure, and reliable systems. The hire will also help shape architecture, mentor teammates, and steward platform quality across the engineering organization.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain client-facing and internal APIs that power product and business functionality. - Architect and orchestrate data flows across back end services, applications, and third-party platforms. - Design and manage database schemas and data storage solutions that support scalable applications. - Lead complex product features from concept through deployment, owning quality and reliability along the way. - Build and maintain automated testing frameworks and contribute to engineering best practices for software quality. - Evaluate and integrate third-party services, tools, and platforms, while improving system architecture, performance, observability, security, and reliability. - Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. - 6–8 years of experience in back end or full-stack software engineering roles. - Working knowledge of Go plus professional experience developing applications and services in Go, Python, Ruby, TypeScript, or C#. - Experience designing, developing, debugging, and deploying high-performance client/server systems that support business-critical applications. - Experience with database technologies and messaging systems, including evaluating and selecting solutions against business and technical requirements. - Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and modern CI/CD practices, plus knowledge of software security, testing methodologies, and engineering best practices. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated initiative and accountability, and the ability to mentor other engineers.
Nice to have - Familiarity with GraphQL, gRPC, Postgres, Mongo, Snowflake, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS. - Background in a financial sector such as insurance, banking, or investing.
