Senior Software Engineer I, Payments

Role overview A senior backend-leaning engineering role focused on the payment systems that move funds during real estate closings. The team handles billions of dollars in annual transaction volume across earnest money deposits, loan funding, payoffs, seller proceeds, and commissions, integrating with banking partners and payment rails. Based in Austin, TX, the position blends large-scale distributed systems work with fraud-prevention engineering.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain services that originate, settle, reconcile, and handle exceptions for ACH and wire transfers at multi-billion-dollar scale. - Develop and harden payment-processing pipelines that connect to banking partners, payment rails, and third-party financial APIs. - Implement wire-fraud prevention, transaction verification, and anomaly-detection controls in collaboration with security and compliance teams. - Extend core web applications (frontend and backend) supporting escrow accounting workflows. - Ship code frequently, partnering directly with design, compliance, and customer-facing teams to deliver dependable payment experiences.

Requirements - Significant experience building production systems that handle money movement, ideally ACH and wire transfers at scale. - Strong engineering skills across both web frontend and backend development. - Practical knowledge of integrating with banking partners, payment rails, or financial APIs. - Comfort owning projects end to end and collaborating across disciplines in a fast-shipping environment. - A pragmatic builder mindset focused on reliability and correctness without slowing delivery.
