Engineering Manager, Application Security

Role overview A B2B real estate technology platform that powers digital home closings is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead its Application Security team. This builder-style leadership role is focused on reshaping how a modern AppSec function operates by making AI-assisted workflows the default across detection, review, and offensive testing. The team protects money, identities, and documents flowing through a shared closing platform used across the real estate ecosystem.

Responsibilities - Lead and grow the Application Security team, coaching senior engineers, setting goals, and owning delivery against the security roadmap - Stand up automated, AI-assisted pen-testing pipelines that run continuous offensive testing against services, APIs, and web properties and feed a triaged, actionable queue - Design workflows and tooling that let the team scale triage volume by roughly tenfold across bug bounty, scanner output, and customer reports without proportional headcount growth - Sit at the front of the design process with engineering leaders, reviewing RFCs and proposals to flag risk early and help product teams ship securely by default - Drive recurring red-team engagements, including internal exercises and coordinated vendor work, and feed findings back into detection, response, and product hardening - Own the multi-quarter AppSec vision alongside leadership, spanning anomaly detection, threat modeling, and AI-augmented defense - Lead incident response from the application security side and mentor and hire additional AppSec engineers

Requirements - Hands-on background in application security, including secure design review, vulnerability triage, penetration testing, and incident response - Experience leading and coaching senior engineers and owning delivery against a security roadmap - Familiarity with a modern web stack built on JavaScript/Node.js and Kubernetes - Ability to design and ship automated pipelines and tooling, ideally incorporating AI or agentic workflows into security operations - Strong cross-functional partnership skills with platform, infrastructure, and product engineering leaders - Sound judgment under pressure, including serving as the in-room decision-maker during security incidents
