Remote job
Infrastructure Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This infrastructure engineering role focuses on keeping a high-throughput API gateway fast, economical, and resilient across a globally distributed edge footprint. The work spans routing, storage schema design, and the budget and billing pipeline that ensures customer spend is tracked honestly. The position is remote and full-time, suited to engineers who think in percentiles and treat reliability targets as personal commitments.
Responsibilities
- Own the routing layer, key-value and relational schema design, and the budget-and-billing pipeline - Build dashboards and alerts that surface regressions before customers notice them - Drive p99 latency down and overall reliability up, setting targets and owning the outcome - Operate and tune the platform across hundreds of edge locations worldwide - Maintain on-call discipline that minimizes real wake-up events while preparing for them
Requirements
- Deep experience with edge compute, distributed systems, or large-scale platform engineering - Mental model built around percentiles, tail latencies, and capacity planning rather than averages - Comfort with on-call responsibility and the discipline to make those pages rare - Hands-on experience with global request routing, caching layers, or edge storage systems - Track record of hitting aggressive latency and uptime targets in production
Nice to have
- Familiarity with budget enforcement, metering, or usage-based billing systems at scale - Experience designing observability tooling that catches regressions ahead of customer impact
