Role overview
Serve as the technical partner to sales teams and prospective public-sector and education customers across California. The role combines discovery, solution design, technical demonstrations, and evaluation support to connect storage and data architecture choices with customer needs and business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Learn how prospective customers operate and what shapes their technology decisions. - Translate business and technical requirements into solutions using storage products and relevant ecosystem technologies. - Work with account teams, specialists, and channel partners on customer strategy and new business opportunities. - Lead technical presentations, system configuration, benchmarks, and product evaluations through a technical decision. - Advise on storage architectures, file systems, distributed systems, and competing solutions across direct-attached, network-attached, and storage-area networks. - Support interoperability and performance validation, contribute to responses for formal information and proposal requests, and share competitive and roadmap insights with internal teams.
Requirements
- Prior pre-sales experience and at least five years of relevant work spanning technology, design, or communications. - Strong understanding of multi-tier client/server and web-based computing architecture and implementation. - Knowledge of current and emerging storage architectures, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NAS, object storage, and SAN. - Experience with Linux, NFS, and distributed Linux environments. - Ability to identify new prospects, support their conversion, and communicate technical concepts clearly in writing and presentations. - Experience configuring distributed computing and storage systems, including areas such as multiprocessing, memory, caching, and shared storage.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting enterprise sales in storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software. - Familiarity with modern web architectures, cloud-native and on-premises environments, and scale-out systems. - Knowledge of storage-intensive applications such as SQL or Oracle databases.
