AI Training - Fluent Japanese Speakers - Shizuoka, Japan
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This remote, task-based opening is for fluent Japanese speakers in or near Shizuoka who want to help train AI through real conversation. Participants are paired with other Japanese-speaking peers on live video calls to discuss everyday subjects, and the recordings are used to teach models how people actually speak, including natural phrasing, tone, and culturally specific expressions. The role is gig-style with no fixed hours, so participants choose when and how often to take on tasks.
Responsibilities
- Have free-form Japanese conversations with another participant over video. - Keep the exchange natural, avoiding scripts or rehearsed dialogue. - Allow calls to be recorded so the data can be used in AI training research. - Complete a brief language assessment as a precondition for joining. - Pick from individually posted tasks based on visible pay and time estimate.
Requirements
- Full fluency in spoken Japanese. - Functional English for following instructions and task reporting. - Comfort sustaining casual conversation with a new person on video. - A quiet setting and a good-quality microphone and headphones for accurate capture. - Friendly disposition and ease talking with unfamiliar people.
Nice to have
- Backgrounds in language teaching, interpretation, customer service, or applied linguistics.
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote and self-scheduled, with no minimum hours. - Each task is shown with topic, duration estimate, and pay before commitment. - Comparable tasks in this category have offered around $18/hour. - Passing the assessment can lead to invitations for further paid projects.
