Role overview
This is a remote, task-based opportunity for fluent Japanese speakers to contribute to AI model training through natural conversation. Participants join live video calls with other Japanese speakers and chat about everyday topics, with recordings used to help AI systems learn authentic speech patterns, rhythm, and cultural nuance. There is no fixed schedule and no minimum hours, so participants can pick up individual tasks whenever it suits them.
Responsibilities
- Take part in live, unscripted Japanese conversations over video with another participant.
- Discuss ordinary, everyday topics and let the dialogue flow naturally rather than performing or rehearsing lines.
- Consent to sessions being recorded so the audio can be used as training data for conversational AI.
- Complete a short language skills assessment after joining the talent pool to confirm fluency.
- Browse individual task postings, review the time estimate and pay for each, and decide whether to take it on before joining.
Requirements
- Full fluency in Japanese, including the ability to chat comfortably across everyday subjects.
- Working English to read task instructions and any reporting requirements.
- Comfort holding a relaxed, flowing conversation with strangers over video call.
- A quiet space to take calls, paired with a reliable computer, stable internet, and a good-quality headset with microphone so audio is captured cleanly.
- A friendly, easygoing manner suited to open-ended small talk with new people.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in teaching, interpreting, customer service, or linguistics is a plus.
