Role overview

This role offers fully remote, task-based work for fluent Japanese speakers interested in contributing to conversational AI training. Participants are matched with other Japanese speakers on live video calls and hold natural conversations about everyday subjects, while recordings are used to teach AI models how people genuinely speak Japanese. Scheduling is entirely up to the participant, with no fixed hours or minimum commitment required.

Responsibilities

- Take part in free-flowing Japanese conversations on video with another participant, focusing on ordinary, everyday themes.

- Allow sessions to be recorded so the dialogue can be used as training data for natural speech in AI systems.

- Complete a brief fluency assessment to confirm Japanese language ability after joining the pool.

- Look over each task posting for its expected length and pay before deciding whether to take part.

Requirements

- Full spoken fluency in Japanese, with the confidence to converse comfortably on a wide range of casual topics.

- Enough English to read task instructions and any reporting prompts.

- Ease with unscripted, on-camera conversation with someone you have just met.

- A quiet environment, a reliable computer, a stable internet connection, and a good-quality headset with microphone for clean audio capture.

- A warm, easygoing personality suited to informal conversation with strangers.

Nice to have

- Prior experience in teaching, interpreting, customer service, or linguistics can be advantageous.
