Role overview
This position is open to fully fluent Japanese speakers who want to help train AI models on natural human dialogue. Participants join live video calls with another Japanese-speaking contributor, chatting casually about everyday subjects while the conversation is recorded for research. It is a remote, task-based role with a self-set schedule and no minimum hours, designed to fit around other commitments.
Responsibilities
- Join paired live video sessions with another Japanese-speaking participant and keep the dialogue natural - Discuss ordinary everyday topics without scripts, prompts, or prepared material - Permit audio and video to be recorded so AI teams can study real speech, tone, and cultural nuance - Pass a brief language skills assessment before paid tasks are released - Browse and accept individual posted tasks after reviewing their time estimate and pay
Requirements
- Full fluency in Japanese with the ability to hold an easy, natural conversation - Working English for reading task briefs and communicating about issues - Comfort with one-on-one video conversations with someone you have not met - A quiet space to record from and a quality headset with a clear microphone - Friendly, relaxed manner and confidence talking with new people
Nice to have
- Background in language teaching, interpretation, customer service, or linguistics - Interest in AI, conversational models, or speech and language research
