Job details
About this role
Role overview A remote, task-based AI training opportunity is open to fluent Japanese speakers who want to contribute conversation data that helps language models sound more human. Participants are paired on live video calls and simply talk naturally while their dialogue is captured for training purposes. The work is fully flexible, with no fixed hours, no minimum commitment, and the freedom to pick individual tasks as they appear.
Responsibilities - Take part in scheduled one-to-one video sessions held entirely in Japanese - Chat freely about everyday subjects without a script, letting the dialogue unfold organically - Consent to the session being recorded so it can be used as conversational training data - Pass a brief language assessment before joining the active participant pool - Review each posted task for its expected duration and pay before deciding whether to accept - Keep the recording environment quiet and confirm that the audio setup is working properly before each call
Requirements - Native or full fluency in Japanese, with the ability to hold extended natural conversation - Working English proficiency for reading task briefs and any follow-up communication - Comfort holding an open-ended conversation on camera with an unfamiliar partner - A quiet location to record from, plus reliable headphones and an external or built-in microphone - Friendly, patient communication style suited to informal back-and-forth conversation
Nice to have - Prior experience in language teaching, interpretation, customer service, or linguistics
Benefits and work setup - Remote-only work that can be done from home or any quiet space - Choose your own schedule, with no minimum hours required - Task postings show pay, time estimate, and topic in advance; some research projects pay up to roughly $18 per hour - Passing the assessment unlocks access to additional paid studies using similar skills - Fits easily alongside other work, studies, or caregiving responsibilities
