About this role
Role overview This remote, task-based role asks fluent Japanese speakers to hold natural video conversations that feed directly into the training of conversational AI. Participants are paired with another speaker and simply talk through ordinary topics while the session is recorded. Scheduling is entirely up to the participant, and tasks are taken individually as they become available.
Responsibilities - Take part in scheduled live video calls held entirely in Japanese - Speak naturally about everyday subjects, without scripts or rehearsed material - Give consent for the recording to be retained as conversational training data for AI models - Complete a short language assessment to confirm fluency before joining the participant pool - Look over each task posting, including its duration and pay, before choosing whether to accept - Maintain a quiet setting and verify that headphones and microphone are working before recording
Requirements - Native-level fluency in Japanese - Working English to read task instructions and any follow-up messages - Comfort initiating and sustaining conversation with an unfamiliar partner on camera - A quiet room, reliable internet, and a good-quality headset with a microphone - Approachable, patient demeanor suitable for friendly one-on-one conversation
Nice to have - Experience in language teaching, interpretation, customer-facing roles, or linguistics
