Role overview

Remote, task-based opportunity for fully fluent Japanese speakers who want to help shape how AI systems understand natural conversation. Participants join short live video calls with other Japanese speakers, chatting informally about everyday topics while the interaction is captured for machine learning research. The work is fully flexible with no fixed hours, no minimum commitment, and access to additional paid projects after completing a brief language assessment.

Responsibilities

- Take part in scheduled live video conversations held entirely in Japanese with another participant - Chat spontaneously about everyday subjects, without scripts, prompts, or rehearsed material - Allow calls to be recorded so researchers can study natural speech patterns, tone, and cultural nuance - Complete a short language assessment before joining the talent pool - Review individual task postings, including time estimates and pay, before deciding whether to accept

Requirements

- Full fluency in Japanese, both conversational and natural - Working English for reading task instructions and reporting - Comfort holding a relaxed, flowing conversation with strangers over video call - A quiet environment and reliable headphones or microphone for clear audio capture - Friendly, easygoing manner; experience in teaching, interpreting, customer service, or linguistics is a plus

Benefits and work setup
