Role overview
A flexible, remote, task-based role for fluent Japanese speakers interested in supporting AI development through natural dialogue. Participants join brief live video calls with other Japanese speakers and hold genuine conversations about everyday life, which are then used to teach AI models how people actually talk. Work is self-paced with no set schedule, and successful candidates unlock access to a wider pool of paid research projects.
Responsibilities
- Join live video conversations in Japanese with another study participant - Discuss everyday topics in a relaxed, unscripted way - Permit calls to be recorded so researchers can capture authentic speech, tone, and cultural nuance - Complete a brief language screening before joining the participant pool - Browse individual task listings, including estimated time and pay, before opting in
Requirements
- Native or near-native fluency in Japanese - Functional English for reading instructions and communicating with the team - Comfort chatting casually with new people over video call - Quiet workspace plus good-quality headphones and microphone for clean audio - Approachable personality; backgrounds in teaching, interpreting, customer service, or linguistics are welcome
Benefits and work setup
Fully remote with no fixed hours or minimum commitment. Project pay can reach around $18 per hour depending on the study and length of task.
