AI Trainer - Fluent Icelandic Speakers - Seltjarnarnes, Iceland

Role overview

This opportunity invites fluent Icelandic speakers based in Seltjarnarnes to serve as language evaluators for AI training studies. Participants will review AI-generated Icelandic text to judge how natural, idiomatic, and culturally appropriate it sounds, helping researchers improve the quality of human-like written Icelandic in machine learning systems. The work is task-based, flexible, and performed remotely on a per-assignment basis.

Responsibilities

- Compare pairs of text snippets side by side and judge which version reads more naturally - Read AI-produced Icelandic passages and rate how authentic and idiomatic the writing feels - Flag moments where tone, phrasing, or vocabulary feels unnatural for native readers - Check whether word choice and register suit the intended cultural context - Tag and label feedback on naturalness, tone, and overall authenticity

Requirements

- Native or fluent command of everyday written and spoken Icelandic - Ability to recognise subtle differences in tone, register, and word choice - Working proficiency in English for reading task instructions and submitting feedback - Strong attention to detail with consistent focus during reading and writing tasks - A personal computer plus a quiet space for uninterrupted one-hour sessions - A PayPal account for receiving task payments

Nice to have

- Background in linguistics, translation, copyediting, or language teaching - Prior experience evaluating machine-generated or translated content
