Senior Software Engineer | Remote | AI SaaS Software Role
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Architect and build a SaaS product while helping shape how an engineering team works with AI. You’ll own product features from early problem framing through production, contribute across backend and frontend systems, and develop agent-driven workflows and internal tools. The role suits an experienced engineer who combines system design with practical judgment about where AI-assisted development helps.
Responsibilities - Evolve backend services and architecture, including APIs and AI-assisted features, and build frontend product capabilities. - Own end-to-end feature delivery, from exploring a problem to implementation and production release. - Create and maintain agent-based development workflows, using multi-session tools to support coding, debugging, and refactoring. - Build internal tools, prompts, and engineering systems that improve development speed and code quality. - Improve performance across frontend, backend, and AI-assisted pipelines; help define practices for AI-native software development. - Help guide a small engineering team as the role develops, shaping how it applies AI to its work.
Requirements - 7+ years of software engineering experience and experience designing systems, not only implementing individual features. - Strong backend experience with Scala or a comparable language such as Java, Ruby, or C#. - Strong JavaScript and React experience, plus a background building and scaling SaaS products. - Deep familiarity with AI coding tools and comfort directing multi-session, agent-driven development workflows. - Good judgment about when to use AI and how to review and debug generated work. - Excellent written communication for an asynchronous team. - Availability in a time zone between UTC−6 and UTC+2.
Nice to have - Functional programming experience; work on internal developer tools, prompt systems, reusable AI workflows, or agent-like systems. - Experience leading engineers or developing practices for AI-assisted software development.
Benefits and work setup - Remote, asynchronous work with autonomy and ownership; the source describes a team distributed across multiple time zones. - No-meeting Fridays, unlimited paid time off, a company-wide December break, and team gatherings or small-group meetups. - Health, dental, and vision coverage for US employees and their families; equity is offered for full-time roles.
