Remote job
IoT & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
An early-stage Physical AI venture is building the multimodal data layer that lets robots learn manipulation skills from real human activity. This hands-on engineering position owns the full technical stack behind field data collection, from microcontroller firmware on wearable sensors all the way through cloud pipelines that ingest and process synchronized vision and tactile streams. The role is remote-first within South Korea and pairs independent ownership of regional deployments with close collaboration across hardware, ML, and data teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain firmware for wearable sensing devices, including microcontroller code, sensor integration, and real-time data acquisition. - Build reliable device-to-cloud communication and streaming pipelines that keep vision and tactile data tightly synchronized. - Operate and extend an AWS infrastructure stack (EC2, S3, Lambda, IoT Core) tuned for high-throughput, multimodal data collection and processing. - Develop Python APIs, ingestion services, and data pipelines that handle large volumes reliably. - Deploy, monitor, and maintain the device fleet and capture setups at real-world collection sites, turning field issues into engineering fixes; occasional travel required. - Debug issues across firmware, networking, and cloud layers, and partner with hardware, ML, and data teams on system requirements, testing, and documentation.
Requirements
- 4+ years of engineering experience spanning embedded systems and cloud infrastructure. - Strong firmware skills in C/C++ with RTOS, microcontrollers, real-time systems, sensor integration, and low-level programming. - Hands-on AWS experience with EC2, S3, Lambda, IoT Core, and high-throughput data pipelines. - Solid Python software engineering for APIs, streaming services, and hardware-to-cloud integration. - Working knowledge of networking, security best practices, performance optimization, monitoring, and logging. - Comfort debugging across hardware, firmware, and cloud layers in fast-paced, experimental settings, plus the independence to thrive in a remote-first, distributed team. - Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Fluent English; Korean or Mandarin is a strong plus.
Nice to have
- Experience with robotics, tactile or force sensing, wearables, or other IoT devices. - Background building real-world data collection systems, including sensor fusion, time synchronization, or multi-camera capture. - Exposure to ML data pipelines or datasets used for robot learning. - Experience deploying and supporting hardware in the field, including remote device management.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote-first position anchored in South Korea (Seoul, Pangyo, Busan, or Daejeon) with regional ownership of deployments. - Full-time engagement with significant end-to-end ownership from device firmware to cloud. - Direct influence on the datasets used to train next-generation robot manipulation models. - High-ownership, fast-iteration environment with real-world impact from day one.
