Remote job
Lead Emulation Test Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead pre-silicon emulation for a next-generation AI inference chip, setting the strategy and methodology for validating large designs on a multi-rack emulation platform. The work spans hardware modeling, software enablement, interface and memory testing, and performance analysis, helping firmware and operating-system development begin before silicon is available.
Responsibilities
- Partition and compile large designs across a multi-rack emulation system, balancing runtime, performance, and debug visibility. - Build hybrid emulation and co-simulation environments so software teams can boot operating-system images and run AI workloads against pre-silicon hardware. - Plan and execute validation for high-speed links and complex accelerator memory hierarchies. - Use emulation power analysis and throughput monitoring to find performance limits that conventional simulation may miss. - Coordinate with tool vendor engineers to resolve platform issues and improve emulation flows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field. - At least eight years of ASIC emulation or verification experience, including work with large Palladium installations. - Extensive Palladium experience, including large-scale partitioning and familiarity with clocking, in-circuit emulation, and virtual interface flows. - Experience emulating very large SoCs, with attention to compile efficiency, runtime predictability, and debug. - Strong SystemVerilog, Verilog, and C/C++ skills, plus Python, Tcl, and Bash for automation. - Knowledge of data center interfaces such as PCIe and DDR, and interconnects such as AMBA AXI or NoC; experience debugging firmware or kernel issues is also relevant.
Benefits and work setup
The role is remote-first and includes a company-provided computer and home-office setup. Listed base salary is $180,000–$300,000, with equity and a 401(k) match. Benefits include company-paid medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, supplemental insurance options, unlimited paid time off, and 13 paid holidays. Applicants must already be authorized to work in the U.S.; new visa sponsorship is unavailable, though eligible H-1B transfers may be supported.
