About this role
Role overview Lead the quality engineering function for a consumer fintech platform, embedding reliability and testability into every stage of the software lifecycle. This is a hands-on individual contributor role that partners with Engineering, Product, and Design leaders to scale automation, modernize testing practices, and mentor other engineers across multiple product areas.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and evolve scalable automation frameworks covering UI, API, backend services, and end-to-end flows. - Promote modern testing approaches such as API, integration, component, contract, and risk-based testing to shorten feedback loops. - Develop reusable libraries, tooling, and workflows that lift developer productivity and automation reliability. - Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and continually improve execution speed, stability, and coverage. - Track quality metrics, automation health, defect trends, and production incidents to surface improvement opportunities. - Apply AI- and LLM-powered tooling to accelerate test generation, maintenance, and prioritization. - Lead cross-team quality initiatives, participate in design and code reviews, and mentor Quality Engineers and SDETs.
Requirements - 8+ years of software quality engineering experience with substantial hands-on test automation work. - Expert proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript; familiarity with Python or Ruby/Rails is a plus. - Deep experience with modern frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress across UI, API, and backend testing. - Strong grasp of software architecture, distributed systems, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments including GitHub Actions. - Demonstrated success designing scalable automation frameworks and reusable testing solutions. - Practical experience using AI/LLM-powered tools to improve test generation, maintenance, or developer workflows, plus working knowledge of relational databases.
