Job details
About this role
Role overview
Found and lead a developer experience platform team, starting with hands-on engineering and growing into hiring, team leadership, and roadmap ownership. The team’s work will help product engineers ship services more independently through a supported deployment path, self-service infrastructure, and standardized AI-assisted development tools.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain deployment templates, CI/CD patterns, production-readiness guidance, and onboarding flows that help services reach production without support tickets. - Develop a service registry as a trusted inventory of services running on Kubernetes, alongside self-service environment provisioning. - Measure developer experience through adoption, deployment lead time, and time to first deployment; investigate why teams bypass the platform and improve it. - Lead development of a shared framework for AI-assisted coding tools, use those tools regularly, and coach engineers in effective use. - Hire the initial team and establish its culture, technical standards, and roadmap while remaining actively involved in design and code. - Support platform work during an ongoing migration from ECS to Kubernetes.
Requirements
- Four or more years of software development experience with Python, including at least two years in a leadership or management role. - Practical experience building CI/CD systems, internal developer platforms, or deployment paths, with enough coding and debugging ability to guide technical decisions. - Deep knowledge of Kubernetes platforms, including cluster APIs, namespaces, access control, admission policies, and deployment patterns. - Experience delivering internal tools that engineers adopt, plus experience hiring engineers. - Security-first engineering practices and fluency in English. - Regular use of AI-assisted coding tools and the ability to help others adopt them.
Nice to have
- Go experience and familiarity with Java or Kotlin build logs and stack traces. - Experience in fintech or another regulated environment. - Familiarity with Terraform, AWS, infrastructure provisioning tools, GitHub Actions, and observability platforms.
Benefits and work setup
- Flexible remote work across the EU or UK, choice of Windows or Mac, and a monthly mobility benefit. - Wellbeing membership, monthly product credit, and opportunities for professional development. - Flat hierarchy and transparent communication.
