Engineering Manager

Role overview

Lead a cross-functional engineering team of up to 10 people across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and mobile work. You will be accountable for delivery and production quality, guide technical decisions across hybrid infrastructure, and develop the engineers and practices needed to keep systems reliable as teams grow.

Responsibilities - Coordinate engineering work and own delivery, quality, and technical outcomes for the team. - Turn business needs into execution plans in partnership with product, trading, and engineering leaders. - Improve planning, estimation, code review, testing, continuous integration and delivery, and release practices. - Guide architecture for systems running across cloud and on-premises environments. - Maintain system availability, performance, and observability; address technical debt while supporting delivery pace. - Hire, onboard, coach, and review engineers, including regular one-to-ones and performance discussions.

Requirements - At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience and 2 years in an engineering management role. - Experience with financial systems, trading platforms, or another environment where reliability is critical. - Strong understanding of backend systems; practical Ruby experience is preferred. - Experience running systems on AWS, including compute, networking, security, and monitoring. - Familiarity with on-premises infrastructure and hybrid environments. - Knowledge of CI/CD, infrastructure automation, deployment approaches, observability, and performance monitoring.

Nice to have

Experience with low-latency or high-throughput systems, fintech or market data, scaling teams and systems, or infrastructure-as-code tools.
