Software Engineer - Insights

Role overview

Build customer-facing database observability capabilities that help developers understand performance, query behavior, and database health across distributed relational database systems. This role combines backend engineering, data pipelines, telemetry, visualization, and customer-informed product development, with ownership spanning design through production operation.

Responsibilities

- Instrument database engines and services to collect useful performance and health data. - Design, implement, and maintain reliable data collection and processing pipelines. - Create dashboards and visualizations that turn telemetry into actionable insights. - Develop APIs and integrations for exposing observability data to customers. - Build tools for query analysis, profiling, anomaly detection, and performance investigation. - Partner with product, engineering, support, and customers to shape features and solve real-world monitoring challenges.

Requirements

- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience. - Experience building observability, monitoring, telemetry, or related data products. - Strong understanding of distributed systems, data pipelines, time-series data, and aggregation techniques. - Backend development experience with Go, Rust, Ruby, Python, or a comparable language. - Comfort working across backend, data, and user-facing technical areas. - Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a self-directed environment.

Nice to have

- Experience with time-series databases or monitoring tools such as ClickHouse or Prometheus. - Familiarity with streaming systems such as Kafka. - Background in database internals, query optimization, or relational database operations.
