Data Engineer – Data Platform (AI-Enabled)

Role overview A platform-focused data engineering role building the next generation of an AI-ready data platform that powers business intelligence and AI workflows across a healthcare technology organization. The role combines deep data engineering fundamentals with daily, practical AI-first delivery, helping shape how the team designs, builds, tests, and documents data products for both human and machine consumers.

Responsibilities - Partner with product, engineering, customer-facing teams, and business users to deliver trusted, well-modelled data products for customer, product, and internal use cases - Help define and implement a semantic layer that makes data easier for humans, BI tools, and AI systems to consume consistently - Support a federated BI model that lets platform consumers safely build their own insights while preserving governance and trust - Use AI tools daily to accelerate development, testing, documentation, debugging, analysis, and design, and help establish practical AI-first patterns for the team - Take ownership beyond development into ongoing operations, participating in the enterprise on-call and incident response process

Requirements - Strong data engineering experience including SQL, data modelling, processing pipelines, testing, documentation, and production data integrations - Ability to build high-quality data products with clear ownership, definitions, tests, lineage, and governance - Strong understanding of AI-ready semantic modelling, metrics, business definitions, secure API exposures, and self-service analytics - Platform and product mindset supported by cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and data architecture expertise - Demonstrated AI-first delivery workflow, including which tools are used, how AI output is validated, and how the candidate has helped others adopt AI-assisted ways of working
