Analytics Engineer

Role overview

An Analytics Engineer is needed to build the data products, pipelines, and analytical solutions that help executive and operational leaders understand performance and make better decisions. This remote role sits at the intersection of data engineering, business intelligence, analytics, and forecasting, serving as a proactive data partner to senior leadership including the COO. The position suits someone who can take an ambiguous business question, determine what the data actually says, and own the solution end to end.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, dimensional models, semantic layers, and integrations that serve as consistent, trusted sources of truth. - Translate broad or ambiguous business questions into structured analytical requirements and deliver actionable recommendations rather than just numbers. - Develop and maintain executive-facing dashboards and BI products that clearly communicate KPIs, trends, exceptions, and business outcomes. - Build forecasting, scenario-planning, statistical, and predictive models, including optimistic, expected, and conservative scenarios, and refine methodologies over time. - Document models, transformations, metric definitions, assumptions, and limitations to support governance and reuse. - Independently manage stakeholder relationships from initial requirements through delivery, interpretation, follow-up, and ongoing support.

Requirements

- 3+ years of experience in analytics engineering, business intelligence, data engineering, advanced analytics, or a closely related field. - Advanced SQL skills, including complex transformations, window functions, performance optimization, data validation, and reusable analytical models. - Hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines, integrations, executive dashboards, and BI products. - Familiarity with dimensional modeling, data warehousing, semantic layers, metadata, data lineage, and governed metric definitions. - Demonstrated ability to independently own an analytical domain or stakeholder relationship from requirements through delivery and ongoing support. - Strong analytical judgment, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

- Experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data platform. - Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, dbt, Python, or comparable data integration tools. - Experience with Tableau or comparable BI platforms, and Python or another analytical programming language. - Background in forecasting, scenario modeling, statistical analysis, or predictive modeling. - Experience with student information systems, CRM platforms, ERP systems, or higher education data. - Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Analytics, Finance, Economics, or a related field (a combination of education and directly related experience is also considered).
