Senior Data Platform Engineer

Role overview Help build and extend a greenfield data and AI platform that supports federal background investigation work. This is a hands-on engineering role inside a high-trust environment where FedRAMP Moderate, NIST 800-171, and CUI handling shape how the work is built. The position is fully remote and partners closely with the platform's lead engineer, with room to grow ownership as the platform matures.

Responsibilities - Build, test, and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and pipeline code that turns raw and synthetic data into governed, analysis-ready products - Extend the platform following the architecture, patterns, and standards set by the lead platform engineer - Contribute to infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines that promote work into an accredited production environment - Monitor data quality, pipeline reliability, and performance, and troubleshoot issues as they arise - Apply data governance, cataloging, and access-control practices within the established framework - Support data science and ML teams by delivering the governed datasets and tooling they need

Requirements - U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T5/SSBI federally adjudicated clearance - Four or more years building and maintaining production data pipelines - Strong proficiency in Python and SQL - Hands-on ETL and analytical data modeling experience - Working familiarity with a major cloud data platform (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable) and version control plus CI/CD workflows - Five years of work experience with a BS/BA

Nice to have - Databricks or comparable lakehouse stack experience (Spark, Delta, dbt, Snowflake) - Infrastructure-as-code exposure with Terraform and CI/CD for data workloads - Experience in regulated environments such as FedRAMP, NIST 800-171, CMMC, or CUI handling - Active T5/SSBI or higher security clearance - Government or defense contracting background - Familiarity with data cataloging tools and orchestration tools like Airflow or dbt
