Remote job
Senior Project Manager
Job details
About this role
Role overview Standalone senior project manager at a pan-African fintech that processes local payment methods for merchants across multiple Sub-Saharan African markets. The role owns the cross-functional delivery system — intake, coordination, visibility, prioritisation support, and escalation — across the entire business. It reports to the COO and acts as the framework and safety net for project execution, not the owner of any individual project's delivery.
Responsibilities - Maintain the integrity of the intake process so every project enters with a complete brief and a named owner, and keep the AI-assisted intake tooling useful - Keep a single, trusted, centralised view of every project in ClickUp so leadership and teams never need ad hoc status updates - Support leadership in prioritisation and bottleneck management, preparing a force-ranked portfolio view with an explicit de-prioritised column - Spot blockers and stalling tasks early, flag them to the responsible line manager within agreed windows, and escalate to the COO when unresolved - Act as a cross-functional bridge, ensuring fast alignment, clarity on deliverables, and efficient delivery across departments - Refine and champion the ClickUp delivery workspace so it becomes indispensable rather than overhead
Requirements - Significant experience delivering and coordinating complex, cross-functional projects, ideally in fintech, payments, or another regulated, partner-driven environment - A track record of bringing order to ambiguity, driving adoption, and holding discipline without formal authority - Fluency with ClickUp (or a comparable platform), Slack, and Google Workspace - An AI-native working style that uses tools such as Claude to reduce manual effort while preserving judgement - Sharp risk anticipation, strong cross-functional coordination, and clear communication from specialists to the executive team
Nice to have - Experience delivering merchant integrations, client onboarding, or API implementation projects, ideally across multiple African markets - A relevant certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM, or Scrum
Benefits and work setup 35 days of paid leave per year inclusive of public holidays and competitive remuneration. Fully remote working model with team members spread across Europe, Africa, and Asia.
