Security Engineer

Role overview

Protect creators and the communities they build on a large media platform as a Security Engineer on a small, code-forward team. The work spans application, infrastructure, and corporate security, blending proactive hardening with reactive incident response. The role is fully remote within the US, with hybrid options in New York or San Francisco.

Responsibilities

- Split time between proactive security projects and reactive investigations, vulnerabilities, and inbound questions - Contribute across application security, infrastructure security, and internal or corporate security initiatives - Participate in an on-call rotation and help respond to security incidents and investigations as they arise - Write code to support security tooling and to harden the broader platform - Partner with engineering, legal, and IT colleagues to reduce risk pragmatically without blocking the business - Develop threat models and clearly communicate why specific risks matter and how to mitigate them

Requirements

- Two or more years reducing security risk across application, infrastructure, or corporate environments - Three or more years of deeper knowledge in at least one security or security-adjacent domain - Software development experience in Python, Rust, Golang, or a comparable language - Familiarity with modern development environments including git, CI/CD, and AI coding assistants - Track record of applying AI or ML tooling to identify and remediate security issues - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

- Experience working on large-scale internet platforms that accept user-uploaded content - Past contributions to production codebases at scale - Hands-on experience responding to and investigating security incidents
