About this role

Role overview This role focuses on applied machine learning for AI-powered pathology, building models that improve the accuracy of diagnosis and the effectiveness of treatment for serious diseases such as cancer. The engineer will collaborate across biomedical data science, product, translational research, MLOps, and platform teams to design, develop, and deploy ML models that reach research labs, clinical trials, and pathology providers.

Responsibilities - Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models for research and product development projects in digital diagnostics - Collaborate cross-functionally with scientists, engineers, and product teams to translate biological and clinical requirements into scalable ML solutions - Contribute to experimental design and analysis, including ideation, documentation, and reporting of results - Participate in knowledge-sharing activities such as design reviews, journal clubs, ML best-practice discussions, and governance work - Improve ML pipelines and infrastructure in partnership with MLOps and platform engineering - Publish and present scientific work, supporting abstracts, manuscripts, and conference contributions

Requirements - Master's degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field with 5+ years of experience, or a PhD in one of those disciplines with 3+ years of experience - Proven track record of developing and deploying machine learning models into production or research applications - High proficiency in Python, modern ML frameworks, and data pipeline development - Demonstrated ability to work independently, lead or contribute to experimental design, and improve ML workflows - Demonstrated ability to collaborate across scientific and engineering teams

Nice to have - Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-experts - Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and managing multiple projects efficiently

Benefits and work setup - Based in Boston, NYC, or remote; relocation benefits are not available - Expected salary range of $130,500 to $200,100 for the Boston primary location, with actual pay determined by experience, qualifications, geography, and other permitted factors
