Role overview A remote engineering role on a large-scale web data collection platform, focused on patching a Chromium-based browser to keep it undetectable against modern anti-bot defenses. The position sits at the intersection of browser internals, networking, and reverse engineering, supporting scraping infrastructure that handles tens of petabytes of traffic per month.
Responsibilities - Patch a Chromium-based browser to reduce fingerprintable signals and improve stealth. - Benchmark patches, document results, and iterate based on measured outcomes. - Collaborate with browser patching engineers and web scraping engineers on a stealth-focused browser build. - Study fingerprinting techniques used by major anti-bot systems and implement counter-patches. - Contribute to a scraping and parsing product serving thousands of requests per second with high success rates.
Requirements - Strong proficiency in C++. - Prior experience working with browser source code, ideally Chromium-based projects. - Working knowledge of networking, including TLS/SSL. - Solid understanding of browser fingerprinting techniques. - Familiarity with techniques for unblocking websites for scraping purposes. - Knowledge of browser automation and the scalability challenges that come with it.
Nice to have - Contributions to open-source repositories related to web scraping.
