About this role
Role overview This is a senior, remote DevOps / SRE / DevSecOps role focused on operating and hardening large, complex AWS-based platforms for consulting clients across Latin America. The position blends infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and security work, supporting engineering teams that ship to compliance-sensitive and audit-heavy domains.
Responsibilities
- Operate and harden AWS infrastructure using ECS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora, ALB, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS, and S3, including multi-AZ failover, read replicas, and replica lag monitoring for PostgreSQL/Aurora. - Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or CloudFormation, and manage containerized workloads with Docker and ECS/Fargate. - Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines with deployment automation and tested rollback paths, including rollback drills. - Implement monitoring, logging, and observability with OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, or similar tooling, and run load tests (e.g., k6) against latency SLOs and error budgets. - Apply a security-first mindset through vulnerability scanning, secrets management, compliance/hardening practices, and support SOC 2 (or similar) audit evidence and client security reviews. - Participate in incident response, on-call rotations, and root-cause analysis, taking ownership of reliability outcomes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, SRE, or DevSecOps roles. - Strong hands-on AWS experience across ECS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora, ALB, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS, and S3. - Production experience operating Aurora/PostgreSQL, plus IaC with Terraform or CloudFormation, and Docker-based container orchestration on ECS/Fargate. - CI/CD pipeline ownership, deployment automation, tested rollback paths, and observability tooling experience. - Security-first background including vulnerability scanning, secrets management, and supporting SOC 2 or similar audits and client security reviews. - Bachelor's degree, ability to overlap US business hours, and a track record of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail on complex systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with S3 Object Lock and long-term archival for audit/compliance retention. - Background supporting secure multi-tenant environments such as PostgreSQL Row-Level Security. - Familiarity with database migration tooling and expand/contract schema changes. - Exposure to compliance-sensitive or audit-heavy domains like fintech or telecom/TCPA compliance.
