Remote job
Software Engineer (Contract)
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Join a small, high-velocity engineering team as a contract full-stack software engineer who owns features from database to UI. The role centers on shipping production-ready product work and building internal AI-powered developer tooling, with heavy day-to-day use of LLM coding assistants like Cursor, Copilot, or Claude. It is a generalist position with genuine exposure to agentic systems and AI-assisted workflows, not a narrow ML role.
Responsibilities
- Ship complete, production-ready features end-to-end, including backend APIs, frontend UI, database schema, and tests. - Build and improve internal AI-powered developer tools such as automated bug triage, code generation assistants, and agentic workflows. - Integrate LLM APIs and agentic patterns like tool use, multi-step reasoning, and prompt pipelines into both product features and internal systems. - Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and developer infrastructure to keep shipping safe and fast. - Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and engineering standards on a small, collaborative team. - Debug and resolve production issues across the stack, including GCP services and containerized workloads.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience shipping production software. - Strong proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js and/or Python, comfortable across backend and frontend. - Experience with React and modern frontend frameworks, with Next.js preferred. - Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and API design (REST or GraphQL). - Practical, shipped experience building with LLM APIs, not just experimentation. - Working knowledge of Git workflows, Docker, and containerized environments, plus clear written and async communication in English.
Nice to have
- Experience with agentic architectures such as tool use, agent loops, multi-step LLM pipelines, or frameworks like LangGraph and CrewAI. - CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, deployment pipelines, environment management, or infrastructure-as-code. - Familiarity with GCP (Cloud Run, GCS, Pub/Sub, BigQuery) or similar cloud platforms. - Experience with RAG systems, vector search, or embedding pipelines. - Background working alongside ML or data engineering teams, or prior remote async-first work with a US-based team.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote position, with candidates in Latin America preferred. - Full-time contract role embedded in sprints, standups, and team chat; employment is administered through a third-party agency.
