Role overview
A software engineering position focused on building data-intensive capabilities for intelligence, public safety, and national security applications. The work involves designing pipelines that handle petabyte-scale datasets and supporting sub-second query performance within a Kubernetes-based platform offered as B2B SaaS or self-hosted, including air-gapped deployments. The role suits a hands-on engineer who enjoys working with data, prototyping quickly, and solving practical problems in dynamic, mission-driven settings.
Responsibilities
- Design and refine data pipelines and processing workflows for large-scale visual and structured datasets - Build tooling and infrastructure for visual data analytics and intelligence-focused applications - Develop scrapers and data collection utilities where required - Support classification, detection, and other computer vision workflows from a software and data perspective - Lead short-lived experimental projects and rapidly prototype new ideas - Collaborate with engineers and technical leadership, with travel every 2–4 weeks for architecture reviews and team events
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field; Master's preferred - Strong programming skills across one or more languages and the ability to code independently, including without AI assistance when required - Demonstrated interest in data, data analytics, and data pipelines - Experience with modern AI-assisted development environments and agentic coding tools - Self-directed, hands-on working style with strong analytical abilities and a capacity to learn quickly - Excellent German language skills and eligibility to work full-time in Germany, including willingness to undergo required security clearance and background checks
Nice to have
- Experience with large-scale data pipelines or data-intensive software systems - Background in georeferencing, satellite imagery, remote sensing, OpenStreetMap, or photogrammetry - Familiarity with computer vision or machine learning workflows - Cloud infrastructure experience - Experience working with sensors such as drones, antennas, or cameras - Knowledge of Russian or Ukrainian - Prior interest or experience in military, intelligence, defense, or public safety domains
