Database Administrator

Role overview Manage and strengthen database systems that support essential business operations, with responsibility for availability, performance, security, and recoverability. Work with development, reliability, and core services teams to shape database architecture, resolve incidents, and automate routine operations.

Responsibilities - Maintain database availability through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting. - Improve performance by tuning queries, indexes, schemas, and database configuration. - Apply access controls, conduct audits, and protect sensitive data. - Design and maintain backup, redundancy, and recovery approaches. - Review database schemas and code changes with development teams for accuracy and performance. - Work with engineering and operations teams to diagnose incidents and improve reliability; automate database tasks where practical.

Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, and at least five years of database administration experience. - Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and other SQL database engines. - Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate operations. - Strong understanding of database structures, principles, and practices. - Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to have - Database management certifications. - Some familiarity with NoSQL databases.
