About this role
Role overview A specialist engineering role focused on building production-grade Kubernetes platforms that span data centres and edge locations. The position designs, integrates, deploys, and operates Rancher-managed RKE2 clusters across cloud, on-premises, and edge environments, with end-to-end responsibility from architecture and automation through to operations and optimisation. The work supports a next-generation management plane for the cloud-edge computing continuum, used by large enterprise customers.
Responsibilities - Design, integrate, and deploy Rancher-managed RKE2 clusters across cloud, on-premises, and edge environments. - Integrate and operate certified CNIs and CSIs such as Calico, Cilium, Canal, Multus, and Longhorn. - Develop and maintain automation for cluster lifecycle using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and GitOps workflows. - Manage networking, storage, upgrades, security hardening, and high availability for large-scale RKE2 environments. - Troubleshoot complex issues across Kubernetes, Rancher Manager, RKE2, Linux, and underlying cloud infrastructure. - Support engineering teams and customers with solution design, issue escalation, and cloud-edge integration work, including documentation and runbooks.
Requirements - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline. - Relevant certifications such as CKA. - Hands-on experience operating large-scale Kubernetes environments, ideally with Rancher and RKE2. - Confidence with Git, CI/CD, and remote collaboration tooling such as Slack, Zoom, and GitHub, with the ability to work independently. - Strong self-management and accountability, with the ability to own tasks and deadlines without direct supervision.
Nice to have Experience with custom resource development, cluster API providers, CSI driver development, or contributing to open source cloud projects.
