Forward Deployed Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview Embed with client engineering teams to deliver integrations against a production healthcare API, while turning recurring client needs into reusable platform capabilities. The work spans production code in both client and platform systems, deployment ownership through launch and follow-up, and tooling that makes future implementations more efficient and dependable. Level is calibrated across Senior, Staff, and Senior Staff based on the scope carried.
Responsibilities - Build and operate client integrations across applications, data, identity systems, and legacy environments; own the outcome through launch and the weeks afterward. - Identify API limitations, document platform gaps, and use only temporary, time-limited workarounds where needed. - Create reusable implementation recipes, conformance checks, client manifests, SDKs, reference examples, command-line tools, and machine-readable documentation. - Develop AI-assisted client workflows and deployment agents, with human review, pre-launch evaluation, and ongoing monitoring. - Improve deployment readiness, testing, documentation freshness, gap reporting, and client communication workflows. - Translate vague or overstated requests into defensible scope, communicate tradeoffs, and leave deployments better instrumented.
Requirements - Strong production software engineering experience and the ability to work effectively in unfamiliar client codebases and platform systems. - Experience integrating APIs with client applications, data, identity, or legacy systems. - Ability to manage work through deployment and operational follow-up, not just implementation handoff. - Clear judgment in scoping commitments and communicating constraints to both clients and internal teams. - Commitment to patient safety and data integrity, and to building systems that others can maintain. - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Benefits and work setup - Remote within the United States, with core collaboration hours of 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Central Time; occasional flexibility and periodic client or team travel are expected. - Salaried benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; flexible spending or health savings accounts; flexible paid time off; a 401(k) with company match; and life and pet insurance.
