Infrastructure Engineer

Role overview

An Infrastructure Engineer is needed to own the reliability, scalability, and performance of a cloud-based payroll, HR, and benefits platform that serves small and midsize businesses. The role is a specialist-level position focused on cloud architecture, container orchestration, and DevOps enablement within a fast-growing SaaS engineering organization.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and operate scalable cloud architecture on AWS or GCP - Develop and refine CI/CD pipelines that streamline deployment workflows - Automate provisioning through Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or CloudFormation - Manage and orchestrate containerized environments using Docker and related tooling - Maintain high-availability database infrastructure spanning MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis - Monitor production performance, reliability, and security, and mitigate identified risks - Partner with engineering teams to strengthen observability and incident response practices - Participate in an on-call rotation and provide production support coverage

Requirements

- 5+ years of relevant infrastructure or platform engineering experience - Deep, hands-on expertise with AWS or GCP services and architecture - Strong proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and broader container orchestration concepts - Advanced experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code - Solid background with MySQL and MongoDB, including MySQL replication - Familiarity with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins - Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks such as Prometheus or the ELK stack - Strong Linux systems administration and network security fundamentals - A methodical, detail-oriented approach paired with humility, customer focus, and a continuous learning mindset

Nice to have

- Prior experience in payroll or HRIS environments - Familiarity with HashiCorp Nomad for container scheduling
