Senior QA Engineer

Role overview

Lead quality engineering for web and mobile applications in a remote, Canada-based role. You will combine hands-on manual testing with automated coverage for user interfaces, APIs, and backend services, partnering with product and engineering teams to support dependable releases in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

- Create and maintain test plans, cases, scenarios, and coverage strategies for new and existing functionality. - Build and maintain automated UI and API tests using tools such as Cypress, Playwright, Rest Assured, or Postman. - Perform exploratory testing and broad permutations to uncover edge cases and reliability risks. - Monitor regression testing in CI/CD pipelines and follow defects through prioritization, resolution, and verification. - Collaborate with product and engineering partners on acceptance criteria, solution design, and release readiness. - Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and other Scrum or Kanban ceremonies.

Requirements

- At least five years of professional software quality assurance experience. - Practical experience developing UI automation with Cypress and Playwright. - Experience automating API or service testing with Cypress, Playwright, Rest Assured, or Postman. - Strong understanding of CI/CD workflows and quality practices. - Solid grounding in QA fundamentals, software testing methods, and test management tools such as Zephyr or TestRail. - Experience working effectively within Scrum or Kanban teams, ideally in fintech, wealth management, or financial services.
